Land Development
For public safety, Last Stand strongly advocates for the development of comprehensive Hurricane Evacuation Models that include all segments of our community, including military personnel, mobile homeowners, as well as short-term and transient renters. The safety of our residents during emergencies is paramount, and the ability to evacuate everyone safely should serve as a rationale to limit growth.
Last Stand also closely monitors key indicators of overdevelopment and overcapacity in the Florida Keys. Traffic congestion remains a persistent concern as does record arrivals at our airports. Last Stand remains resolute in its mission to address these issues and advocate for the sustainability and well-being of our community.
Overdevelopment
Last Stand promotes the protection and preservation of land in the Florida Keys against overdevelopment, which significantly impacts the quality of life of our residents. We address critical issues such as traffic congestion, limited affordable workforce housing, and the strain on the carrying capacity of our fresh and wastewater infrastructures.
